Activities

In our club's first year of operation, our members have put a tremendous amount of time and hard work into organizing and participating in activities. This section lists some of the things we've done and some ideas we've been working on.

Programming Competition - In response to our embarrassing defeats at the HACC and Shippensburg Programming contests, we decided to hold a programming competition of our own for area high schools. It was held March 27 and ran quite smoothly. We gave more problems, more objective grading procedures, and better prizes than our two competing competitions offered. We distributed complete solutions to all of the problems so it could be an educational as well as a competitive event. (To anyone who competed this year: we promise to toss in a few easier problems for next year.)

Field trip to Stoner Associates - In the two hours we spent there on April 30, their computer experts showed us that the same programming concepts we use to make a game of Tic-Tac-Toe can be used in the real world to run cities and save lives. We were also introduced to some new ideas in team programming, application development, and networking.

Fundraising - Several of our members have taken the initiative to seek corporate sponsors to pay for our other activities.

Computer maintenance at CV - We are offering our school's technology experts a chance to take advantage of our members' skill. We are currently working on getting approval and hardware to network the Computer Math computers.
