Dear computer teachers,
We are pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for your students interested in
computer programming. In conjunction with local businesses, the Cumberland Valley Computer
Club will be holding a programming competition on the morning of Saturday March 27. The
competition will be similar to the HACC and Shippensburg contests, but with several
additional features.
We want the competition to be open to as many students as possible. So to accommodate
both new and experienced programmers, the competition will feature different levels of
problems with difficult problems being worth more points. We also hope that the
competition will be both a competitive and a learning experience. At the end, all teams
will receive complete answers to all of the problems, including source code.
Problems will be checked on the spot by our judges, that way we can have the results as
soon as the competition ends. The highest scoring teams will receive awards and cash
prizes (depending on how much money we can raise). Weve got to give some incentive
for getting up at 8 oclock on a Saturday morning!
Each team can consist of 1-5 people and one computer. We are asking that teams bring
their own equipment. If this is not possible, we might be able to provide hardware or
software for you with sufficient advance notice.
The quickest way to contact us is to send email to cvcomputer@usa.net.
We can usually respond the same day this way. If this is not available you can also send
mail to Mr. Hair at Cumberland Valley High School (address on back). Team registration
forms have been included in this package, but you can register online at http://pneuro.com/cvcomputer/competition/
.
We hope to hear from you soon!
